Every now and then we enjoy putting the spotlight on the young athletes from the Scarborough Beaches area that achieve great success. We want to congratulate local athletes who have committed to NCAA Division 1 programs, Canadian University athletics or are now playing on junior/pro teams.
These stories aren’t a pitch about how coming to Bob Acton Sports guarantees a path to high-level sports, they are about how talent, hard work and perseverance lead to success.
Cole Luik
Lacrosse, High Point University D1
When we think of Cole, we think of hard work. He may not be the flashiest player, but he’s the kind of teammate you want on your side and a fierce competitor on the field.
Cole is a big, athletic defender who is a true student of the game. He’s always asking questions and striving to improve. We get weekly texts from him asking to meet at Ted Reeve for private lessons. This kid is hungry and just getting started.
Cole’s journey is interesting. He attended Williamson Road and is currently a senior at St. Mike’s. He also grew up playing hockey for West Hill and spent his last three years in AAA with the REPS in Oakville.
During his second year of U18 AAA, he attended several Junior A camps and an OHL camp, but in between, he participated in three U.S. lacrosse recruiting tournaments and excelled.
What a transformation for a kid who started with a focus on hockey and within two months, he received three amazing scholarship offers from Division 1 schools for lacrosse.
Much like his friend Cooper Brozek, Cole is a coach and mentor for our Bob Acton Sports Kids.
Beyond sports, Cole is an awesome, humble kid from a great family who is poised to do great things at the next level.
Good luck, Cole!
